The transitions are built on the depth of your footage, ensuring you get a unique result for each clip you use. The 12 transitions will never look the same; use them as much as you want, it feels like you're using a different transition every time.

Fixing jump frames
When changing the transition duration, video rendering can become choppy, and certain images may be skipped during rendering, affecting the smoothness of the transition. For now, you can adjust the default transition duration (Final Cut Pro > Settings > Editing) to avoid the issue.
GPU acceleration
The depth map generator is being optimized and rebuilt from scratch to support GPU acceleration. Combined with an optimized model management system, the rendering speed will now be 5x faster (100fps on M1 Max).
Video depth computation
Give users the option to estimate the depth of every frame in the transitions, rather than just one frame per clip. This will enable the transitions to integrate seamlessly with clips that feature intense motion.

01. Chose a transition
Preview the transitions in the transitions browser and choose between 12 templates. Select one and drag and drop it between two clips in the timeline. To avoid jump frames with the beta version, we recommend not hovering over the transition with the playhead during rendering.

02. Adjust length
The timing of a transition is very important; the length affects the rhythm and speed of the effect. Experiment with different lengths to achieve the desired style. If you get jumpy frames after changing the length, we recommend removing the transition, changing the default transition speed in Final Cut Pro > Settings > Editing to the desired value, and then dragging the transition back.

03. Play with the settings
The transitions come with default settings that you can tweak in the transition inspector. Some settings are common to all transitions:
- Depth Smoothness controls the smoothness/blur of the depth map. Increasing the value will smooth the transition but may result in loss of some depth information.
- The Direction menu allows you to choose whether the transition affects background to foreground or vice versa.
- For transitions featuring motion, you'll find a Motion control to adjust the amount of motion.
