Accurate Colors
These LUTs respect a perfect balance between each color hue, they are calibrated not to deteriorate any part of the spectrum. A characteristic that differentiates a professional LUT from a standard one is its ability to maintain a smooth transition between each hue, no matter how bright it is.
You can see this difference on a 32bit RGB spectrum: most LUTs on the market have flaws that are visible as banding or artifacts in some part of the spectrum.

01. Normalize
If you recorded your footage in a LOG format like S-Log, C-Log, etc... you should first normalize your footage to REC.709. You can do it manually by adjusting the color, contrast, gamma, etc... or using official LUTs from your camera band.

02. Apply LUT
In Final Cut Pro add the default LUT effect (or any third tier plugins) on your clip. You can also use an Adjustment Layer to apply the LUT to a selection of clips. Set the intensity to 0% and increase slowly to find the perfect setting, you usually don't want to use your LUT at full intensity.

03. Look adjustment
Once you applied your LUT, you may want to slightly adjust each individual clips to have a coherent look. You can achieve that with the original FCPX color inspector.

04. Noise and other effects
Most profesionnal productions add extra effects such as Noise, Chromatic Aberration, etc... You can use the default FCPX Noise effect and use other third tier plugins.
